The Refuge of Prarayer is placed in high Bionaz valley, between big mountains, glaciers, forests, torrents and lakes.
It's a halting place of Tour del Matterhorn in the heart of 4000 of the Alpi Pennine. Ideal start based for ascensions, excursions, fishing and trip in mountain bike in the summer; mountaineering ski trips in winter and spring.
The refuge is, also, gifted with comfortable place in dormitories and little bed rooms,sauna,bar and restaurant with typical Aosta Valley food.
In the refuge is also possible to ask for a mountain guide of the Society of the Valpelline valley for the ski mountaineering, excursions and alpinism.
Refuge Prarayer
From Torino or Milano (highway number A5) exit at Aosta Est. Just after the exit take the tunnel to Grand S. Bernard. Be careful, just after the tunnel! You must take the first crossroad on the right toward Valpelline-Bionaz. You must follow the Regional road number 27 (to Bionaz-Valpelline) go through the villages of Gignod, Roisan, Valpelline and Oyace. When you reach the village of Bionaz you must continue in the main road (number 27). Just after a small tunnel take the first cross road on the left, just before the cemetery and the church. Follow the road for the Place Moulin Lake (almost 9 kms) .
When you reach the wall of the dam (the Place Moulin Lake) you must park your car in the proper parking places and continue walking along the lake (see picture) .
The pathway to Prarayer Hut is a easy way accessible also to the babies in carriages,
the pathway is very suitable for mountain bikes. The difference in level between the parking place (about 1980 meters over the sea) and Prarayer hut (2005 meters over the sea) is very modestly .
The pathway go along the lake for about 6 Kms (45 minutes - 1 hour), following an itinerary full of water falls and bridges , until you reach Prarayer hut .
For the people without car in our region we have a bus system that can carry you until the village of Bionaz.
From the Bionaz village to the Place Moulin lake there is not a bus line
